The Canada Disability Benefits Act was implemented on June 22, 2023, following the royal assent of Canada Bill C-22. Even though this is wonderful news, additional research is necessary to completely comprehend the Canada Disability Benefit from below.

The Canada PP Disability Benefit 2024 program is a new program introduced by the bill that would provide financial assistance to those in low-income categories. People who are physically or mentally disabled in Canada are called handicapped.

Poverty in the country results from these people’s inability to find employment. In an attempt to eradicate poverty, the CDB 2024 gives low-income individuals $300 per month in Canada Bill C-22 Disability Benefits 2024.

What is the Canada Disability Benefit Online Engagement Tool?

The Canada.ca website is offering the online involvement option for the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations until December 21, 2023.

Subsequent to the draft regulations’ official publication, which is scheduled for 2024, additional opportunities for comment provision will arise. Regarding the planned Canada Disability Benefit, the Canadian government is consulting with citizens.

We would appreciate your advice on specific benefits-related matters, such as eligibility and benefit amount since these will be taken into account in the rule-making process for the Canada Disability Benefit, according to officials.

How much you could receive from Canada Disability Benefit?

The $558.74 base payment amount must be paid. “We increase the base amount in accordance with the amount you contributed to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) during your employment”, according to an official.

The CPP Benefit is contingent upon several criteria, including average wages, the age at which benefits were initiated, and the amount contributed to the CPP. The highest amount that a person may get from the CPP Benefit is $1,306.57 assuming retirement at age 65.

  1. When it comes to applying for benefits like this, I’m used to applying the “old fashioned way” (over the phone). I’m 43 and not a very tech savvy person.

  2. I’m writing on behalf of my self and brother. We bought are on ODSP,what we bought are getting it is not enough. My brother have Downsyndrome and he is bedbound because last year he feld down the stairs.
What he is getting every month is only $1102.47 and me $1396.22. They also take money from me for boarder. With the canada disability benefit that government is bring in to help us all out of poverty that would be good. I was layoff from my job where I was working for eleven years, and them I was sick whit what I’m getting from ODSP it very hard.

  3. I’m on disability now for a few years now. I have degenerative disc’s and spinal stenosis and im a diabetic. I don’t have enough money to survive for the past 2 or 3 years. I now out of some of my medications and have about 30 dollars and I only eat can soup and eggs and bread mostly. What I’m I supposed to do. Im not living any more and barley surviving. I want to give up because I have no live. Who can live on 23 000 a year. I’m on 12 prescription and I’m out of 3 prescription right now.that I can’t buy What I’m I suppose to do? I live alone and I don’t care if I live anymore. Thank you Justin Trudeau for making making life so expensive that I can’t survive now just like thousands of people. I was surviving until about a year and now I can’t. I don’t care if I live now thank you Justin Trudeau.

    • Ken, Justin Trudeau has ruined all our lives. I can relate. I live on $810 a month barely. Im going to food bank now. I have disability ( several conditions including stenosis, scoliosis, arthritis in back and injury among other chronic illness), but can never get on it. No dr fills any forms where I live. I should have had it for years. I say don’t give up. I want to be there when he crumbles. The day he is gone is the day we celebrate a new Canada Day. Hang in there. My frugality has reached new levels let me tell you. I wish I could see at least $1300 on disability it would help me a lot. I scrounge on $810. Its disgusting that ppl are expected to live like this in Canada. While he has laundered billions now, to ensure his legacy. I pray we get avenged and his clownship is voted out for no confidence.

      • I completely agree! Trudeau must GO! As he takes his 85000 trips for 10 days and the rest of us can’t even pay rent or buy food. Our credit scores are destroyed as we live off credit to survive but have no money for the extra payments. It’s disgusting. Young people are having kids like crazy as this government pays them thousands of dollars each month. I know people getting 5000+ a month. They are allowed to claim this as income for buying homes. I don’t get it. The government sees kids being born yet don’t bother asking or getting any proof of the father? The parents are living common law. They should be reporting as living together but separate gives them thousands of dollars extra a month from the government. It’s infuriating. I had three kids with my husband. We were and always remained POOR WORKING CLASS. The highest baby bonus we got was 18.00 a month and I had to pay my own daycare. We made combined 50,000 a year! These couples are making well over 100k plus all government cheques? Yet we disabled absolutely get ignored! WE SHOULD HAVE FREE DRUG COVERAGE AT THE VERY LEAST!

Real estate destroyed along with many life And high rentals. Thank u Justin for destroying so many life’s.
Freebies shud be given to needy not to people owning million dollar home but havign5kids and cash jobs.

I had to fight them for 2 years to prove I was disabled when all though my application it said I have a complete SCI and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Even then I was only getting a little over $11,000. Per year

        • There are so many reasons to blame Justin Trudeau for ruining Canada that Disability Benefits is at the bottom of the list. The asshole has absolutely nothing. No education, no political background, no business background, he can’t speak. Even his wife couldn’t stand him.

          Reply
          • You obviously have no idea who Justin Trudeau is. Some of what you said is not factual and your assuming. He does have an education. And in what world do you live that you think the prime minister of Canada has any actual power to do things? It’s the people below him and the people telling him what he should do. He has no power, neither does the president of the USA. Blaming this on one person because he is the prime minister is ridiculous. Blame it on the minister of a certain department. And being rude and swearing isn’t appropriate, Paris.

      • I am in receipt of Canada Disability Pension since 2017. I recieve $740/month. I was renovicted from my rental property 2 yrs ago and now living in an RV due to our housing crisis. How do they expect someone to live off of $740 a month??? Its absolutely maddening and sad for all of us. I didn’t choose to be on Disability…I was injured at work. Denied Workers compensation and Long Term disability. I worked for almost 40 yrs. Good paying jobs. Most recently I was employed as a school bus driver. I made a decent wage and was able to survive as a single mom. My daughter is now grown and out on her own yet I cant afford to live in a house or buy food. Our Government is Absolutely Disgusting Disgraceful Despicable!

Doesn’t work that way in government. I’m sympathetic to your condition and issues, but you need to understand how governments work.

      • They are incorrect in who to blame. That’s not the way a government works. Regardless who is prime minister, they have no such powers to snap their fingers and change things. It’s the people below and around him that have the power. Even Biden in the USA has no real power. Heads of governors can ONLY petition or work towards changes. There are certain things they can’t do without going through certain pipelines… And they can get blocked or shot down. There are alot of misinformed people in here with bad spelling and foul language, which doesn’t help an argument or discussion.

Don’t get me wrong I’m appreciative of anything I get but it’s darn hard to live on what I’m receiving and some get less than I get.
I’m not sure but a few have been saying you have to be paying into CPP to get your benefits everyone who has had a job any job has paid into CPP so I’m hoping that we will ALL qualify for this benefit.
IT’s February first today and I’ve not received an extra $300. Wish I had as it would help out a little.
It’s kind of funny as all this big talk about having won a huge battle getting Bill C 22 passed and Royal Accent I was like so happy now reading everyone’s comments has kind of put a damper on things as we should have know better.
I really hope these people come through for us as it’s not enough I’d like to see one of these people who apparently know what we all need to live on would try living in our shoes for a few months can’t say boots as I can’t afford them.

    • Ken, I am sorry to hear about your troubles. It saddens me to learn that your life situations are so hard. Do you know anyone that you could live with to help with expenses. I understand your situation because i myself must buy medication to survive my own illness. The way i got around it was buying a personal health insurance which pays for my prescriptions.

      Reply
    • Hi Ken – You can save $$$ on prescription drugs by enrolling on the Ontario Trillium Drug Program. It is based on household income, not your income, so be sure to read through all the info. You must be current with your tax returns and it’s best to file by April 30 even if you don’t owe money. Your pharmacy might print the application for you, but a black-and-white printout is hard to follow, so I suggest to look at it on-line if you can – maybe at a library. Keep your pharmacy receipts or ask them to re-print for you because the program will partially reimburse you for prior drug expenses.
For general info AND application form go to: https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-help-high-prescription-drug-costs. >>>Remember to sign TWO PLACES (on the same page or following page) when you fill the application. The 2nd signature gives CRA consent to release info, every year, regarding income.

I read an article that the extra $300 was part of the Bill C 22 and was being distributed on the 20th of each month starting this January well it’s now Feb no $300.
I called to ask about Bill C 22 at the call centre for CPP and CPPD the lady at first didn’t quite know what I was talking about thinking I told her Bill C 1922 then got that straightened out she came back saying yes there will be future payments as 21.3 million had been put aside.
I’m thinking ok well that isn’t going to go very far maybe a few payments of $300 to all on disability but come on please put up some proper information we ALL can read and understand.

    • Hope so. My whole Disability Payment goes towards Rent. I’m hoping we will automatically receive the extra $300 if we are already on CPP Disability. Fingers crossed 🤞

    • I know me too! From what I understood Bill C-22 Canada Disability Benefit Act will not be the same as CPP, nothing has even been put out yet, the earliest we would know is anywhere from April – June 2024. The last I heard was that they now going over the final details then it’ll roll… this really confusing…
I’m on ODSP, I’m thankful I have parents that I rent from cheap so I can survive, I still have bills and food to buy after I pay rent (shelter), so I am literally left with nothing. Both my parents will be retired soon, my Mom is dealing with her own disabilities. I have a multitude of disabilities, I have DDD, Severe Spinal Stenosis and Forminal Stenosis, on top of Osteoarthritis in my Lumber and knees, I also have 2 Autoimmune Diseases, I have a Lumboperitoneal shunt, along with a Arnold Chiari Malformation and Intracranial Hypotension and also Heart Arrhythmia Disease, so I am just screwed, I walk with a Rollator/Walker, I have great difficulty walking, sitting, and standing. I cannot afford to live on my own because I can’t afford it and because it is also very danger for me, which means if I don’t have my parents to live I an going to have to go into a long-term care facility which I will not be able to afford. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will all of us in Canada with disabilities.

  14. First of all, everything which was said is completely False. Yes, the Canadian disability act received royal assent lat year. Nothing has been finalized as to payment, let me say that again, they are currently working on various issues as to to amount to individuals with disabilities, so whom ever is writing this ludicrous article and misleading the public, so get fired. First of all no amount of funds was ever mentioned yet by the federal government, individuals or families on ODSP knows, any income coming from the feds, CPPD is automatically taken away. So, that’s an issue the feds are working on so this would not happen. Secondly, same as individuals on LTD, they do the same like ODSP, so that’s another issue as well. So, what ever you read about dates and amounts, it’s all wrong. So far nothing is set in stone, the deadline the federal government has giving themselves to release confirmation into these issues is June 2024. Please when in doubt, do your own research because it’s all there in the government website!

  16. I’ve said this a few times. How on earth can this CDB be dependant on how much CPP you contributed??? What if you could not ever work to contribute to it??? This benefit seems that the only people who will qualify if you have worked for many years.

  20. I read with concern and sincere empathy for those on disability and living on incomes insufficient to live off. I’m one of the fortunate ones on max Canada Pension Disability with the child benefit as extra, as well as two work pensions. Putting the new Canada Disability Benefit aside, we have a severely broken system that is stacked against disabled Canadians.
    – Insurance companies that offer Long Term Disability Insurance explore every avenue possible to deny legitimate claims.
    – These same companies will force you to apply for Canada Pension Disabilty Benefits, then reduce the benefits they were paying by that amount, essentially stealing your benefits.
    – Governments make it nearly impossible to get the Disability Tax Credit, which many people could benefit from.
    – The current system is designed to make people, and keep people sick, and it is designed get people and keep people on medications, enriching the Pharmaceutical Companies who only care about profits.
    – Disability Firms and their lawyers, that specialize in taking on the insurance companies, will take your back pension payout, or most of it as payment for their time, if they win the case.
It seems to me that disabled citizens who can’t contribute to the economy, are of little importance, and their well being is not a priority.
It seems to me that this new CDB will only be paid to those that contributed to CCP, and those that didn’t contribute will not receive anything extra.
Disabled Canadians need help now, actually long before this, and we have braindead politicians running (or should I say ruining) this country, who are only in politics for the perks they receive. If they actually gave a damn about us, then this new benefit would be rolled out quickly, to help those who need it most.
God Bless all those out there suffering not only financially, but with the ailments they have been diagnosed with, and I pray the system gets fixed and help arrives soon.
