The average benefit amount for each eligible resident is $971, according to state officials. Senior payment amounts increased this year, with maximum amounts of $1,750 for senior homeowners and $700 for renters, as specified in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

  • As of October 1, 2020, you were a resident of New Jersey, 
  • The major dwelling (main home) that you owned and inhabited in New Jersey, 
  • The property taxes for which you paid in 2020, 
  • And your gross income in New Jersey for that year did not exceed $250,000.

If your proportion of ownership is not preprinted on your mailer and you co-owned your principal house (main home) with someone who was not your husband or civil union partner, you will need to submit a paper application;

  • Your primary residence was one of the apartments in a complex of homes you owned;
  • You received an Anchor information mailer or an Anchor Benefit Confirmation letter for the right property, but you need to change your name because of a marriage, death, or other circumstance, or the name on the mailer or letter is not yours;
  • Your document displays both your name and the name of your departed spouse, indicating that you are a widow(er) or surviving civil union partner;
  • If you occupied a newly constructed home on October 1 and did not receive an ANCHOR mailer or an Anchor Benefit Confirmation letter with an Identification Number and PIN, you are considered a homeowner to apply for the ANCHOR benefit, but you were not the actual owner of record on that date. 
  • If you are an executor filing on behalf of a deceased homeowner, you are filing for a property held in trust.

To claim benefit, taxpayers who received a green or purple filing packet should adhere to the guidelines included within. 

You can still apply for the program if you are eligible for the benefit in 2020 due to your residency, income, and age eligibility, even if you did not receive a packet from us.

    • I have been checking the status of my application for the past month..all payments should have been made by JANUARY 12 2024..if you haven’t received anything then you must call them at their toll free number because they probably need more information. This is what happened to my son as well as my husband. Check your status at the website where you filed.

      • If you haven’t received your rebate yet you MUST CONTACT the customer service line and have your confirmation number handy. All payments were supposed to be made by 1/12/24.

  1. Hi waiting on the status of my Anchor Rebate check. It has been in processing since October. Called and spoke to someone January 11,2024 by the name Kadeshia on your customer service line. Gave her all the info she needed and asked for. My information is still processing a week later. Just like to know what the status is. This was not a problem back in April.
